I have loved the Coppola film, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" since it came out in 1992 (when I was 12) and have always drooled over the beautiful and somewhat exotic bustle Victorian gowns. My favorite is Mina's "absinthe" gown and I love the fact it's blood red. ;-) So back in 2005 I had the dress recreated by a woman named Randi and then later had a replica of Mina's necklace made as well which was made by Fleur De Lee- such a talented woman!
Below are a few photos of Winona Ryder (Mina Murray/Harker) in this particular costume:
And here is the replica I had made along with photos of the necklace:
Elizabeth Swann/Pirates of the Caribbean yellow gown~
This gown is the yellow dress Elizabeth Swann wears in the first POTC film. I just thought this dress was beautiful but wished that the dress would have been a bit smaller- made have to have it taken in a bit or just have it redone.

Misc. costumes I have either had made or bought for Halloween~
This next costume I bought at a Halloween store back in 2008. I believe the name of it is: the Countess Bloodthirst. I love vampires!! They are sexy, mysterious, powerful, and well- kick @ss! I believe this costume can still be purchased online if anyone who comes across this page likes it so much!
Here are a few pics:
The photo directly above, I am standing next to my Phantom chair- a prop I won off Ebay a few years back. It is an actual Broadway stage prop used in ALW's Phantom of the Opera! Someone had purchased it at the yearly Broadway Flea Market and I scored it online- I love love it and it's my favorite prop!
The photo below is of my husband Tony and I (dressed as Count Bloodthirst of course!) at a Halloween party both dressed up as vamps. :-) We are slow dancing...awwwww!
I also had a Regency period gown made by Wendy's Doll Closet (if I remember the name correctly). She had a store on Ebay and after obtaining your measurements, would make you a gown in what color or style you wanted. I chose the pink floral and had always wanted a Regency style dress. When I find a front shot I will add it to this blog.... Here's a photo:
I made this vampire costume by hand back in 2005 or 2006. I never named it and it eventually fell apart. But hey, I tried! ;-)
I call this outfit, "The Dark Fairy"- bought the wings at Walmart, borrowed the shirt from a friend, purchased the wig at Target I think and the pants and sunglasses were mine...lol Had to throw something together quick the night of a Halloween party a number of years ago! And guess what? I still have the wig!
Remember the "old tyme" photos in the mall or theme parks? You guessed it, I have had a few done over the years! They are so much fun!
First my cousin Alyssa and I had a Civil War era one taken (I LOVE Gone With the Wind!). This was at Wisconsin Dells back when I was about 12 or 13 years old:
Friend Melissa and I got the wild wild west ones taken too...lol This was at the Mall of America in Minnesota:
And last but not least, a Renaissance photo taken with same friend Melissa at the Mall of America:
Lastly, after publishing four books, I needed some good headshots for future books so my husband asked me what I wanted done. He's a great photographer and film editor, plus he's very skilled in Photoshop. I wanted "film noir" with a sort of metrosexual air to it- hence, the tie...:
