I have had costumes made from both the Andrew Lloyd Webber stage production, and also the 2004 adaptation of ALW's Phantom of the Opera.
This first costume is a replica of what Christine Daae wears in the 2004 Phantom film. It's called the "Point of No Return" costume or "PONR Costume" to us Phantom costume addicts...lol She wears this gypsy costume when she sings the duet, "The Point of No Return" with the Phantom dressed as Don Juan. The scene, song, and costumes are very alluring and sexy-that's actually why I love the film replica so much, although, I will have to say that I do like the stage version of the PONR gown better which is currently on my wishlist!
Aminta/PONR Film Replica~
The two photos below are of the actual costume that was used in the 2004 film- there is a picture of actress Emmy Rossum who played Christine Daae, in the PONR costume:
Here is the replica I had made- it was recreated by a very talented lady named Sheri L.:
The Dressing Gown Film Replica~
The dressing gown is my personal favorite costume of Christine Daae's. I love both the stage and film versions- they are similar but yet different at the same time. The three photos below are of the actual film costume:
And here is the replica that I had made by Sheri L.:
As you can see, the bottom two photos were excellent photoshop work done by my husband Tony to make it look like I was in the '04 film....lol That was a lot of fun!
The Rooftop Gown Film Replica~
This is the costume that Christine wears during the rooftop scene in both the stage and film versions of ALW's Phantom. This gown is dubbed the rooftop gown or the "AIAOY Gown"- as you can see, POTO phans abbreviate everything...lol AIAOY means "All I Ask Of You", and that's the song Christine sings with Raoul when she's wearing this particular costume.
Below are a couple pictures of the actual film costume worn by Emmy Rossum:
My replica made by Sheri L.:
The stage versions of costumes are beautiful and if I could have EVERY replica of each Christine Daae costume, I would- I am greedy when it comes to the stage POTO costumes!;-)
The Dressing Gown Stage Version~
I love...no, I ADORE the stage version of Christine's dressing gown- the ruffles, lace, train, everything!! The stage dressing gown was the first costume I ever had recreated and it was made by a talented lady named Joy. Below are a couple photos of the stage version(s) and then below that are some photos of the replica I had made.
I remember costumer Joy ask me if I would rather have a replica of the original UK dressing gown that Sarah Brightman wore, or if I wanted more of a replica of the German dressing gown. I chose my first dressing gown to look like the original and to match SB's as much as possible:
The Wishing Gown Stage Version~
Again, the Wishing gown is the costume Christine wears during the song, "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" and hands down, this is my favorite Christine costume (stage version of course)!
Here are a couple photos of original stage gowns:
And this is the version made for me by Tiel:
Wedding Gown Stage Version~
Last but not least I had the stage version of Christine's wedding gown made for MY wedding. :-) This is many female POTO phans dreams to have their wedding gown be a replica of Christine's gown, so I feel very fortunate and blessed that my mother knew how much Phantom meant to me and how much having a reproduction gown to wear on my special day was to me. Below are a couple photos of the real stage gown(s) from Phantom:
And finally, the replica I had made by Christine Hall- what a talented costumer!
*Please note, the wedding photos of my husband and I are copyrighted by photographer Jean Budden Beranek
So that's it for Phantom costumes, but check on my wishlist because there will be several Phantom costumes that I want to have made in the future! ;-)
